Frequently Asked
1
Where do you practice?
All appointments are virtual to make visits easier and more accessible for many. Though virtual, as a Nova Scotia licensed RN all clients must be in the province at the time of our appointment.
2
Does my insurance cover nurse coaching?
At this time I cannot guarantee reimbursement from insurance providers. I will provide a detailed receipt for you to put through a claim if your insurer allows. I would advise you to reach out to your insurance provider to inquire further. Some common categories you may be able to claim reimbursement under would be nursing services, health spending accounts, and holistic health services.
3
Can you diagnose me?
In Nova Scotia it is not within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurse to provide a medical diagnosis. However, as your nurse coach we can leverage any diagnosis and health concerns you may have in combination with details about your lifestyle and history to create realistic goals that can support you in meeting your vision of health.
4
Can you order lab work?
No I cannot order lab work as an RN in independent practice. A physician or NNP must order lab work so that they can monitor and interpret the results appropriately. However, if you obtain your lab results from your primary care provider, I would be happy to review those results with you and see what indications there may be for lifestyle intervention from a preventative care lens.
5
Is this service a replacement for primary care?
No. I require my clients to be seeing a primary care provider (PCP), or appropriate service if they do not currently have a PCP (maple for ex.) for their medical needs and health screenings. This service is meant to work in addition to regular primary care, to offer you individualized, additional time and support to understand your health, and meet your wellness goals.
6
I cannot afford to pay for an additional service, what is available to me for free to help with my health and wellness?
While I believe in the benefit and impact of this service, I understand it may not be feasible for all. I would encourage you to utilize the free Health & Wellness programs provided through Nova Scotia Health's Community Health Teams.
